Figures on a Landscape, .10
Supposedly one of the finest routes in JT, if not the best according
to some sources. I guess that would be true if you're really into
sparsely protected face climbing. It is three pitches long with
some mighty fine moves along the way, and, since I didn't lead any
significant passages, I enjoyed it tremendously.
I first paid attention to Joshua Tree when noticing a cover shot
of this route on the british magazine Mountain, in 1984. The light
and the colors were magical, and I knew I had to go there some day.
