Welcome to Our Boat Shop

Libby Small Craft is an artisan studio of woodworkers who love boats, sailing and all things nautical. We specialize in small, able boats of classic beauty that will provide a solid foundation for low impact coastal adventures. Our combined boatbuilding experience span decades, and ranges from the very traditional to truly modern.

Not only builders, but also sailors, we know what you need to embark safely on long and short expeditions in a small wooden boat. We are based in the Northwest, with fantastic cruising grounds right out the shop door. From Puget Sound to Glacier Bay, Alaska, our travels along this convoluted coastline has been the inspiration for nearly all the small adventure craft we build.

We know about the challenges of current and wind and how they affect your boat. How to organize gear and keep it both dry and ready to use. When to sail or row, and whether you need a boat that can be hauled up on the beach or is best anchored. After years of voyaging in wooden boats we can recommend a type of construction that will provide the best balance between cost, weight, maintenance and performance, depending on your requirements.

From sea kayaks to cat ketches, there are literally hundreds of simple seaworthy vessels to choose from. Whether you're beach camping, anchoring or day sailing; rowing, paddling or setting canvas to the wind, we can help you decide on a design that best suits your needs.

Please contact us for a discussion about your dreams and which boat to choose. We can get you on the water in a quality wooden vessel, at a reasonable cost.
